Henry's Day

On Sunday 7 August 1955, Henry Priestley participated in the Light Railway Transport League's (LRTL)
tramcar tour of Glasgow.

Henry is seen standing on the right.

He chose this unusual position to photograph the group's tramcar.

This was the resulting picture.

Another of Henry's pictures that day.

Henry, a Tramway Museum Society member, died in 2008, aged 97.

The Museum's archive contains a large number of Henry's negatives.

Electric Cars At Last

A postcard from the Museum's collection, showing the introduction of electric tramcars in Lincoln, previously a horse tram city.

Postmarked Lincoln 4 December 1905 and sent to a Cambridge address.

"You see we have got electric cars at last and they run very well. They get overcrowded sometimes and stop to rest a bit. You will have to come and see them."
